Introducing
The Battery HOTLINE SM
"battery
questions asked - battery questions answered"
How
many times has a question on stationary batteries that has nagged you
gone unanswered?....or maybe a condition in one, or a number of your cells,
that "just didn't look right" has gone unanalyzed...... Ask
yourself if there was ever a time that you wished you had another set
of eyes reviewing specific battery data?....or reviewing a report that
you had written.....or reviewing a recommendation that you were going
to make to your boss (or management).
If
you have ever been in this position (and let's face it ....WHO HASN'T
BEEN??), The Battery HOTLINESM is just what you would have
wanted to provide assistance, guidance, assurance or an otherwise "warm
fuzzy."
Q. |
What
is The Battery HOTLINESM? |
A. |
Its
a service that makes expert consultation that would have previously
been justifiable only for major issues an affordable necessity. |
| |
|
| Q. |
What
do I need to use the service? |
| A. |
A
FAX, e-mail, questions, electronic photos, and a credit card*.
Simply get your question to ESA Consulting Engineers, PA, along with
a telephone number that we can contact you at and well do the
rest. |
| |
|
| Q. |
How
much will the service cost**? |
| A. |
The
minimum charge is $US 60.00 for the first 15 minutes (or fraction
thereof) and an additional $US 50.00 for each additional 15 minute
increment (or fraction thereof). |
| |
|
Q. |
How
does the process work? |
A. |
Once
your question and supporting data and/or photographs are submitted,
you will be provided with an estimated cost and schedule for answering
your question. If you agree, credit card information will be taken
and a response to your question will be sent to you. Once the work
is completed, your credit card will be billed and a receipt issued.
ITS THAT SIMPLE! |
| |
|
| Q. |
Can
I specify a not to exceed cost at the time I submit my question? |
| A. |
Yes.
For example, a question may be submitted with a statement that the
cost should not exceed $US XXX.XX without additional authorization.
If we feel that the estimated cost of answering the question will
exceed the authorized amount, you will be contacted with the estimate
for authorization. |
| |
|
| Q. |
Can
I send my credit card information with my question and what information
is necessary? |
| A. |
That
decision is up to you; however, unless you provide authorization of
an amount beforehand, we will be contacting you with an estimate,
so credit card information can be obtained at that time. Keep in mind
that the ESA website is not a secure site. |
| |
|
| Q. |
Does
this process really work? |
| A. |
Absolutely!
For example, a person in South America with a battery problem was
referred to ESA. After some introductory correspondence, electronic
photos of a number of cells were attached to an e-mail and sent to
us with the query "Have you ever seen this and what is it."
We of course had and provided a response using about one hours
worth of time. |
| |
|
| Q. |
Who
is the battery expert that will answer my questions? |
| A. |
Most
questions will be answered by Marco W Migliaro. Mr. Migliaro is a
Fellow of the IEEE and a registered professional engineer in the states
of NY, NJ, MA, PA and FL in the USA. He has more than 30 years of
experience with emergency power systems, batteries, UPSs, etc. He
has written more than 40 technical papers and has contributed to six
books including the Handbook of Power Calculations and The Standards
Handbook for Electrical Engineers1. Mr. Migliaro is also
the author of a series of feature articles in Batteries International
Magazine2 and has developed a number of courses on emergency
power systems and batteries, which he has taught around the world
to an estimated 7000 participants from more than 600 companies. He
was also responsible for the development of a one-of-a-kind CD ROM
on Stationary Battery Maintenance3. Mr. Migliaro is a past
member of the IEEE Board of Directors and a past Chairman of the IEEE
Standards Board. He continues to participate in battery standards
development on IEEE SCC 29, Stationary Batteries. He is listed in
a number of biographical references including Whos Who in America,
Who's Who in the 21st Century and American Men and Women in Science.
Mr. Migliaro has received a number of awards for his work including
the 1996 IEEE Charles Proteus Steinmetz Award for "outstanding
contribution to the development of standards in the field of power
engineering and his innovative leadership in the IEEE Standards development
process." |
